This deal comes from X-Clubs on 6/10/2026. It was played in a teams event at our club. A vulnerable sacrifice against a non vulnerable game just should not happen at teams but can occur more often at match points. And when it comes off it is nothing short of daylight robbery. Look at this deal and judge for yourself

When West opens 1S, North has a reasonable overcall of 2H and most Easts will bid 2S (personally I would bid 4S at teams). South bids 4H (would you? I would either bid 3H or double) and West bids 4S. North may be encouraged to try 5H. When passed round to West, a double should be mandatory, West should know that any points (apart from the likely spade queen) that East has are in the minors and can expect +500, which at teams is not that significant but +200 compared to +450 is many imps. That is why you don’t pass out any sacrifices when you have bid a game that you expect to make. Interestingly, across all of X-Clubs, in the match point sessions, there were four Norths in 5H, two doubled and two not. Those doubled scored 8% those undoubled 91%, daylight robbery!
