Loveblock Pairs Coming Up

The annual NZ-Wide Simultaneous Pairs is scheduled for the evening of Friday 15-Nov. In previous years about 1000 pairs from 60 clubs have taken part. Results from most clubs are scored across the field before midnight. Richard Solomon is, and has been for yonks, the main organiser of the event which raises money for the New Zealand Bridge Foundation to promote the development of youth bridge in this country. Richard would be very happy for your club - even if not affiliated to NZ Bridge - to run a heat on November 15th.

Players at your club are eligible for NZ Bridge A and C points from the event if they have a computer number and grading with NZ Bridge. All players are eligible for the overall wine prizes courtesy of Loveblock Wines.

A booklet with analysis of the hands played is available for each player if Richard has an indication of how many you might expect to play. Booklets are sent to a nominated person and deal files emailed so the hands can be pre-dealt - with the expectation that the usual security will be respected.

Clubs must play a minimum 24 boards but 28 are provided to fit in with your movement. Only boards 1-24 will be scored across the whole field of some 55-60 clubs.

NZ Bridge charges $10.00 per player. Some clubs make an evening of it by getting together for a light meal and a sample of the sponsor's product ahead of play. They recover local costs from players on top of that $10 NZB charge.

It being so really important the scores are sent IMMEDIATELY after the event we absolutely need a cellphone number and name of the person scoring the event in case there are any queries on the night. There have always been just one or two clubs that, often for technical reasons, cannot get their results in on the night but - you never know - maybe in 2024 we'll have a final result by midnight.

Please get in touch with Richard.solomon@nzbridge.co.nz if your club would like to join the fun this year.
