Some questions:
If West opens 1NT, what would you do if you were North? Options are:
DOUBLE, you are just a point short of the recommended point count and have an easy lead of the club ace, asking for attitude.
Or if playing natural overcalls, 2H is reasonable.
And if playing something like Hamilton, 2H for hearts and a minor.

Next question, for East:
If North doubles, do you and your partner have an agreement now? I suggest that after the double of 1NT Stayman and transfers should be off and East should bid 2S, to play. You may have your own way to handle penalty doubles of 1NT.

Next question:
If North bids 2H and East 2S, passed to North, would you then bid 3C? I would.

And finally:
If you were West in this scenario and 3C was passed to you, would you bid 3S? This hand is certainly worth competing to 3S even though East has tried to sign off in 2S in the first place.

And that’s not all. South of course should then push on with 4C. Lots of scope for both NS and EW pairs in this deal. One NS pair even managed to bid to 5C or were they inadvertently pushed there by an over aggressive EW pair? Goes to show what a really big fit can do for you! For some options click here.
